Our next #24SupperClub on Monday, February 26 will be a tribute to the late Chef David Bouley. His influence was profound and the news of his passing sent shockwaves throughout the US, eliciting an outpouring of love, reverence and gratitude for Bouley.

“I never worked for him but I always wanted to grow up and be like him. I would eat there for lunch when it was $35 pp and five courses. I was broke, would bring $50 in cash because I didn’t have a credit card and would have one glass of wine. He would look out over the dining room and recognize that I must be a cook in the city somewhere and send out extra courses and glasses of wine. The food was amazing and I felt like I was in France; that was 1994 and Bouley was ranked the best restaurant in the city. Last year we were lucky to host him at Redd and cook for him. Brad (@scrandall) and I spent a couple hours talking to him after his meal and he shared some great stories. We had both worked at Roger Verges Moulin du Mougin in the south of France and he told stories of Daniel Boulud, another of my mentors. The culinary world lost one of its giants, in my mind the 2 best American chefs of all time were David Bouley and Thomas Keller.“ - RR

The halibut was the best I ever had, even when I've had it in coastal regions, and the skirt steak with corn was a bite out of this world. Food was PERFECTION! Wow! One of the best meals I’ve had in a long time. We started with the lobster risotto and gnocchi apps. My son preferred the latter and for me the former. Both fantastic. He had the bolognese as his main. I chose the grilled chicken breast over summer vegetables. The chicken was nicely brined, tender and moist. Charlotte our server was perfectly attentive. And the vibe just felt so comfortable. Can’t wait to go back!

My wife and I visited Redd for the first time. We were very pleased by selection of drinks, and starters. We started eith the Tuna Tartar, which was perfectly seasoned and dressed. For meals we had NY Strip, and the daily special which was Beef Stroganoff! Both were fantastic and tender. We finished with their Butterscotch dessert and Lemon Drop shots. Highly recommended, we'll be returning soon!

REDD is one of our go to date night spots. The decor is very well done, modern and sophisticated without being pretentious. We’ve always had good service. The only time we’ve had a problem was when it came time for our reservation the previous customers hadn’t finished yet. We had to wait about 5-10 mins while the host figured out where to move those people to so that we could sit down. Overall the host and hostess handled it well. The food is fantastic! Last time I had the scallops, haven’t... had scallops in a while and it was amazing. Would order them again in a heartbeat. My girlfriend can’t get enough of the chopped salad and gnocchi cacio e pepe, she orders it every time we go. If you’re going to REDD, make reservations a couple weeks ahead of time, they fill up very quickly!read more

This is a Michelin starred restaurant with a chef who truly cares about the customer & gives you a real foodie experience. Each time I go to Redd , I’m wow’d! Pinot noir was smooth . Dined here for my fiancee's 30th birthday on the night of the solar eclipse. We (5 of us) were sat at a booth and while the environment was lively, it was not too loud, and we were able to exchange our conversations freely and easily.Overall, the food was exceptionally delicious. One caveat I will add is - we ordered a salad and the salad was so fresh there was a tiny little beetle that rolled off the plate! The server was kind enough to quickly replace the dish, though, so it was not a big... deal. The rest of the food was delightful (we got a ton - the lobster risotto, scallops, fluke, etc., and all of them were a hit), and the desserts in particular (banana foster and butterscotch) were absolutely amazing.I personally don't drink, but my fiancee and friends do, and they had exceptionally good things to say about the selection of wines. Absolutely great. From the people, to the design, to the food; of course.We had not been before last night which was a shame as I guess we stick to our normal places too much. But from the moment we walked in, every staff member was a absolute delight.Scott our waiter was very attentive, friendly, and helpful. We started with the REDD Wings. They are Thai Chili coated with sesame seeds and spring onions. They were perfectly cooked with an amazing crunch. We couldn't have been more happy... with the perfect balance of sweet and heat, and the decadent flavor.Personally I was torn between two specials, and the classic steak on offer on the regular menu.The one special was basically a comfort food; the classic beer battered fish fry, which ultimately Scott recommended since it was a special that is only available during Lent.This choice was amazing. He was right in that it was a basic fish fry, but elevated. The fish was tender and flaky, with a perfect beer battered shell that had a great crunch. The fries were great and handcut with a pillowy softness to them, but the tartar sauce was absolutely killer. And while the fish fry was an absolute stand out on its own; that tartar sauce just pushed it to the stratosphere! Get this if you see it on their menu.My wife got the Wild Fluke with Clams. The presentation of the dish was amazing, with a creamy sauce, tender clams, a flaky fish, and a rice base that absolutely was creamy and delicate holding onto the sauce. She usually sticks to basics, but went off her beaten path, and she was glad she did.For drinks we tried a couple of their specialty ones. My wife had the spicy margarita which was amazingly complex, and not too spicy. But it is a back of the throat spice if that sort of thing bothers you. I had the Negroni which was great as well. I've found you can tell a bartenders skill based on how well blended their Negroni is, and this one was masterfully crafted.Before I get to the deserts, their desert spoons have what seem to be a dent in them. It's supposed to be there. It's a French Sauce/Desert spoon that is supposed to allow the sauce or glaze of a desert enter the spoon without having to tip it too far and lose your bite on the utensil.Also, you may notice a small fork with a thick tine on it. That's a desert/pastry fork. The thicker tine is meant to replace you having to use a knife to cut the cake or pastry. The more you know.For desert was the decadent chocolate cake for my wife. It was rich and creamy with a scoop of ice cream. Great stuff. I had the Sticky Toffee Pudding which was fantastic as well, with the same requisite scoop of ice cream.So, after all that, just to once again say, this restaurant and it's food and people are well worth the visit. If you haven't been due to sticking with your normal haunts, you owe it to yourself to try it. Or, if you just only do a nice yearly sit down for a special occasion, make it here. After my friends and family all raving about REDD, I just wish my wife and I had tried it sooner.read more

Loved the food! Couldn't be happier. I was a little disappointed that the lobster risotto wasn't on the menu but something to look forward to next time.

Great food, nice staff, great ambiance. Only downside was a little slow, however it was fairly busy for a Monday.
