Went on our anniversary date here last night. Wonderful place, wonderful food. We were told this was a Michelin Star restaurant, and I can believe it. The bone marrow Au Jus was the biggest star of our dish. Staff worked hard and they had their system down pat. We really liked the Mandalorian inspired mixed drink.I would suggest that the chef review the Halibut dish. The vegetable medley in the Halibut option didn't really seem that exotic — the vinegar-tomato sauce tastes a bit too similar... to Campbell's tomato soup; didn't help that the liquid consistency wasn't thick enough, so it was just a odd runny tang that seemed to be missing an ingredient.Still, other portions of that dish was executed very well. My husband I went here on our anniversary in November 2020. Being in the middle of the pandemic, I felt very safe being here. It is now a once a month staple...I had the Coq au Vin twice and I don’t even prefer chicken over other dishes. My friend had steak...wasn’t even filet or ribeye which is also what we both prefer. There are so many aspects that make a dining experience positive and Redd is exceptional. We had called last minute on a busy Saturday night and were able to be accommodated. Since our reservation was made last minute, we had a bit of a wait. Excellent customer service allowed us a make shift spot at the bar, all while sticking to safety guidelines. The bartenders are fast paced, with the ability of serving delightful cocktails. While I believe this is a top five restaurant in Rochester; it's not the best. And that was my expectation. The food was very good, not great. As was the service. You can see the attention to detail in the environment, food, and drinks. Overall, I'm eager to try them again, perhaps for their next seasons menu.Edit: they're a great experience, and amazing execution which is consistent if you go on a Friday night or a weekday lunch.

My date and I were looking forward to this restaurant for dinner as we heard wonderful things about it, and we were certainly thrilled with our dinner, one of the best we have experienced this year in Rochester. We started out with the Tuna Tartar, and the Asian Chicken wings, and both were bursting with exciting flavors! I would heartily recommend both. While we were waiting for dinner the chef kindly passed on some grilled olive oil bread and fresh ricotta, although I'm uncertain if this is a... common practice. I ordered the Coq au Vin with mashed potatoe puree and roasted vegetables, and my date ordered the Mesquite Steak with celery root puree. Both dishes were to die for; I felt back in my grandmothers kitchen with the Coq au Vin, the flavors, silken, and hearty for a cold night. The steak and celery root puree were so delicious we still dream about it. For dessert we ordered the Pot de Creme, butterscotch, something neither of us had since our youth, and it was fantastic. As this was a very special night for us, we were so happy with the outcome. This restaurant is on par with what we'd find in a NYC fine dining restaurant, and I am so happy that we have it here. Exceptional dinner! Everything about REDD is quality, service, atmosphere. If you have not been to REED you need to go. Possibly one of the best restaurants in the USA!

Highly recommend the fried chicken meal for two -- the fried chicken had just a little kick to it. Still crispy by the time we got home from picking it up curbside! Thanks for a great meal, Redd.

We went here on 10/12/20 for a birthday dinner - my wife and I for her 40th.After some deliberation we decided on the tasting menu (the 5-course menu) and a couple glasses of wine. While they cryptically refused to specify what we would actually be getting, we were able to specify things we definitely did not want and alert them to any allergies etc. The wine-by-the-glass options we chose were both very good (a Pinot Noir and a Barbera).They then proceeded to bring out our food in a timely... manner , and it was all fantastic. Interestingly we each got different things for each course, and as we have been together long enough to comfortably share food we essentially were able to eat a satisfying amount of 8 different dishes and 2 different deserts. Tuna tartar and a salad, caramelized scallops over some awesome cauliflower two ways and a quite interesting halibut dish with clams and muscles, roast rare duck breast and caramelized pork belly, rare roast lamb loin and blackened rare NY strip, apple puff-tart a la mode and butterscotch custard with espresso cream. It was all served in an appealing presentation with interesting sauces and accompanying fare. They also managed at each step to somehow serve each of us things we actually liked quite a bit and would have considered ordering a la carte, e.g. the lamb for me or the steak for her, or the scallops for her and the halibut for me, right on through to dessert.Food total was $75 x 2, wine $12 x 2, and a coffee for $5. Came out to a bit under $200 with tax and we left a $40 tip.Redd isn't a cheap restaurant by any means - the regular entrees were in the $25-$40 range - but we felt that we got a good value for our money, and had a great experience overall.
